North Park, Ca
Our shoot began at the hotel, where in a few weeks they were to have the engagement party. The hotel manager was kind enough to allot the grounds at our leisure, so we obliged by checking out the library, parlor and connecting bar. After exploring a bit in the formidable Lafayette Hotel, we swayed on over to Red fox piano bar that wasn’t quite open yet; we took advantage of the playful red light, vintage light fixtures, hung up chairs, and clean bar before making a quick exit out the back to our next location….North Park.
These two came so prepared, 3 outfits in tow, perfectly complimentary, but not match-matchy. A more casual outfit was selected for exploring in North Park, it was particularly warm this day; one of my favorite moments was randomly stopping in at Hammonds Ice Cream..the photos we shot in this time frame were especially my favorite. Nothing Screams I love you quite like Ice Cream!
We ended the session at the special place they got engaged. A scenic mountain top at the edge of the earth and the 8 Freeway, where the whole city is particularly in view. The light was settling into a golden hue and this was the perfect place and light to get some intimate (and so freakin’ sweet) shots of these two, just beaming with love.
From a technical standpoint, one of the things that stands out most with this shoot, is the variety of light we shot in. Afternoon sun, harsh 2 O’clock sun and then of course Golden hour. I’m now, definitely not afraid to shoot in every kind of light.
